I usually recommend against doing a “faux” or “mock” exit. Not because they’re a bad idea! But because you have three build in opportunities to do a grand entrance or exit, and it’s usually more fun to simply plan around one of those! However, faux exits can be a good option if you’re planning to party the night away, don’t think a ceremony exit or reception entrance will capture your vision, and want to let your older guests know they can head out early.

Opportunities for a "Real" Exit

Ceremony Exits: these are extra romantic and exciting, because you just got hitched! Throwing flower petals, confetti, or rice is traditional, but don’t feel like you can’t get creative and try something different for this.

Reception Entrances: if we take sunset photos, we’ll usually get some gorgeous skies for a sparkler or bubble entrance into the party right as we’re finishing! This is a great opportunity to get the party started and get right into dancing or the cake cutting

Reception Exits: whether the end of your party is still in daylight or long after dark, these are a blast and there are so many ways to get creative with them. I’ve seen everything from fireworks to paper airplanes to fun getaway vehicles and noise makers.
